I will have a full list of products that I used below.
I chose this particular stamp set and design because my father has a strange love of his squirrels in his back yard. I spoke with my daughter and asked for her opinion on what type of card would be fun for grandpa. He is a lover of outdoors, fishing, camping and boating. Her choice was Nuts About Squirrels!
I came up with this idea to make the front of the card bow out a little bit to resemble a tree. This gives the card a little extra pop and as my dad likes to show his cards off for, well, forever, I try to make them 3D.
To get that bowed look I just used 2 layers of Stampin Dimensionals in the center of the Kraft paper and let the paper curl around itself. I used the Timer 3D Embossing Folder for the wood texture and Layering Diorama dies for the squirrels home.
The squirrels and nuts are colored in with Natural Tones Stampin Blends 100, 400, 500 and 600. I fussy cut them all out and added them into the layers of the tree.
My sentiment Happy Father’s Day is from the Home & Garden set and it is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a scrap piece of Kraft paper.
The entire stack of wood textured paper is on a piece of DSP from the Flowering Fields collection. This paper gave a green for the tree and leaves as well blue sky!
Normally I would have a downloadable PDF file for you with step by step instructions of this card, however, today I do not have that ready. I will get it finished up and update the file right here!
Be sure to check back in a day or so and grab your copy!.
