Elwood’s New Friends. – Kindest Gnomes Card

While planning this card and looking at the new July-December Mini Catalog, I was taken back down memory lane when my kids where younger and my nephews and niece visited and we took a day trip 30 minutes down the road to spend the day at the butterfly garden.

Reimens Butterfly Garden is not just a garden and home to hundreds of butterflies but it is also the home of Elwood The Gnome. Elwood is the worlds largest concert gnome proudly standing at 15 foot, 3,500lb overlooking the beautiful gardens.

Visiting Elwood has become somewhat of a tradition when my Cali family visits Iowa, we all go take a picture with Elwood.

Todays card will feature the new Kindest Gnomes Bundle. I will also be sending this card off to the staff at the gardens as a small gift of appreciation for all the memories!

Here is a run down of the paper sizes for a quick reference. I have a full printable PDF available for printing at a later date.

Cutting & Scoring:

Granny Apple Greene 8-1/2” x 11” Cardstock – 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” scored at 4-1/4”

Hues Of Happiness 12” x 12” DSP – 4” x 5-1/4”

Basic White 8-1/2” x 11” Cardstock – 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”

Kraft 6’ x 6” Paper – 2” x 2”

Other products used include Stampin’ Blend Markers (there are a lot!), Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and Early Espresso Classic Stamp Pad. Liquid glue, Black Stampin Dimensional’s and the Stampin Cut & Emboss Machine.

With the Kindest Gnomes Bundle I also used the Tree Lot Dies for the sentiment sign you see in the corner. This die set is Level 1 product out of the upcoming Sale A Bration catalog!

I chose softer greens and blues for my gnomes to make them feel more natural in a garden/landscape setting that we are at the gardens.

A little tip with the coloring of the mushrooms:

After coloring in my base on mushrooms I felt they needed something else as they looked to solid and unnatural. I simply used my color lifter in spots to give highlights and a softer look. I think this makes it look more natural.

I had a lot of fun making this card and the Hues of Happiness 12×12 DSP was perfect for the background.
